Meet the Instructor

Tiffany Caldwell

As a new mom, I wanted to find a useful hobby that I could start/stop easily. Projects that I could finish in 1 sitting and easily carry with me to the park. A planty person before the pandemic – I was inspired by a community of fellow plant lovers to macrame plant hangers. Through their encouragement, I found the confidence to start selling my creations and teach fellow enthusiasts. Running around my home are my 2 doggos (Parker & Charlie), my son (Taylor), and my tech-savvy partner (Joe). Taylor has a love for anything green & is passionate to understand how things are made or how things work. Joe pushes me to new limits by incorporating my art with his laser or 3D printer – creating reusable cups, memorable cutting boards, or hand-crafted wood accents to macramé wall hangings. Inspired by bohemian lifestyle & coastal jungle vibes; I love incorporating bright, colorful macramé made with ethically sourced fibers into my home. Selling my crafts as Rays to Waves, you can find my plant hangers around Omaha in local plant boutiques, family-owned shops, or at pop-up markets throughout the year. If you’re nervous about learning macrame, don’t be - think of it as a really big friendship bracelet! It’s as easy to learn as tying your shoes.

Liz Polivka

My name is Liz Polivka. I was born and raised here in Omaha, Nebraska, and currently live in Millard with my two fur babies. This is my third summer getting to work with amazing young crafters here at Mangelsen’s. For the last 18 years I have worked as a teacher in a local school district teaching alternative curriculum special education and 5th grade. I have worked with a variety of students ages kindergarten through sixth grade with a variety of needs. The past three years I have also been working with the Papillion Creative Arts Academy both teaching and assisting in a variety of classes with creative students of all ages. My heart has always been and always will be for kids. I love to see their enjoyment from doing and learning something new. That is what brought me to Mangelsen’s, and I look forward to crafting with some amazing young crafters!
