Class Description

Practice pattern cutting and sharpen your machine sewing skills all while learning how to cut patterns, attach a waistband, add elastic, and mark hems. End result is a super cute skirt for you to take home!

BYO:
– Sewing machine*
– Favorite snips (small scissors)
– Thread color of choice – available prior to class at Mangelsen’s
– 100% cotton fabric prewashed of your choice: available at Mangelsen’s prior to class!

Determine yardage for fabric needed by:
– Measuring your own waist
– Multiply that number that by 2.5
– Divide that total by 36.
– Looks like this:
– Waist = 36 in.
– 36 x 2.5 = 90 (this is the number of inches we need for skirt fullness)
– 90 / 36 = 2.5 (dividing the fullness inches by 36 gives you the number of yards needed)

Prewash your fabric to take care of any initial shrinkage. Press/iron afterwards or remove it right away from the dryer to help lessen wrinkles! No time to prewash? We will cut your skirt a little larger to accommodate moderate shrinkage. All other materials are provided!

**Please note that while this is a 4-Hour Beginning Class, basic machine sewing knowledge required.

**Inquire about limited machines available for class loan by calling Sidney in the Marketing Department at (402) 391-6225 X 3018
