Justine

I’m Justine, the baker, artist, and dreamer behind every sweet creation at JZ bakes. Baking has always been a part of me, though my journey to becoming the baker I am today has been anything but traditional. Growing up, I was surrounded by artistry—my grandfather was a painter with incredible talent, and my father creates beautiful, handcrafted furniture. While I didn’t pick up their tools, I found my creative outlet in the kitchen as a young adult. Truth be told, I wasn’t very good at first, but I was determined to learn. Life, however, had other plans. When I became a mother (now to four amazing kids!), I set baking aside to focus on building a stable life for my family. In 2020, shortly after welcoming my fourth baby, my husband encouraged me to return to my passion for baking. With his unwavering support, I dove back in—reading, watching videos, and learning through plenty of trial and error. Over time, I honed my skills, teaching myself everything I know. Today, I pour my heart into every cake, cookie, and confection that leaves my kitchen. From custom cakes that double as works of art to cookies, cake pops, and everything in between, I obsess over every detail. My commitment to perfection doesn’t stop at the baking; even the packaging is handled with care and love. What drives me most is the joy I bring to my customers. There’s nothing like seeing the smiles, hearing the stories of excitement, or receiving referrals from people who say my creations taste as good as they look. That joy inspires me to keep dreaming bigger. With the incredible support of my husband and family, I’ve taken a leap of faith—leaving my corporate career to focus on JZbakes and pursue my dream of opening a brick-and-mortar bakery. Until then, I’ll keep baking from home, sharing my passion with you, and working toward making this dream a reality. Thank you for being part of my journey. Let’s create something beautiful (and delicious) together! I am a Cottage baker: A cottage baker is a baker that runs their entire business from their home. From the baking to the packaging, all of it is done in home. To do this, Nebraska requires a certification and the passing of a food safety class, both of which I have accomplished. I am allowed to bake items in my home and sell the directly to the customer.
